Food Review: FIX Cafe

FIX Cafe is a casual joint with a relaxing ambience, serving up hearty and rather unique dishes for the masses. They are opened by the same people behind Grub.

This cafe is situated just beside the pool hence the relaxing ambience. It's also not air-conditioned.

The cafe goes by the theme of a workshop, in accordance to its name. I find the above decor quite cute, you can see they arranged the screwdrivers and other tools of various sizes and contrast it with the 'tools' of the kitchen.

Desserts display!

As you can see from the menu, Fix has some interesting dishes, namely the Naanwich. It's a combination of the Indian naan and the sandwich. They're the first in Singapore to have such a dish, and I applaud their creativity for that!

Butterscotch with Toasted Coconut Milkshake ($7)

Xin Yu ordered this drink and it tasted normal to me. The toasted coconut is just the coconut flakes at the top.

Chicken Tikka Naanwich ($10)

XY ordered this dish, which consisted of chicken tikka and homemade archar on the Indian flatbread. The chicken was not the most tender, but overall very flavourful together with the archar. All naanwiches come with a side of nacho chips.

Mushroom and Feta Naanwich ($10)

I ordered this dish for reasons quite obvious haha. The mushrooms, resting on a bed of lettuce, were well sauted. It complimented the feta cheese. The poached egg was runny too, and made the whole dish less dry (from the naan).

While it's creative of FIX to come up with fusion food of naan to replace the traditional bread in sandwiches, I find that the food was hard to eat because the naan was hard to cut. XY ended up cutting the paper below (LOL). I'm not sure how this dish can be improved, but maybe my suggestion is to make the naan crispier? Cos what I had was quite tough.

I've heard good reviews about their other dishes such as the 3-Cheese Penne Gratin ($10) which is essentially baked cheese pasta. If I return I'll definitely try that! They also have homemade desserts such as the Strawberry Rose Tart ($6), which are recommended by other customers too.

The ambience here is nice, because it's beside the swimming pool, hence the alfresco feel. Service was normal, can't comment much because it's largely a self-service cafe (except when they bring the food to you). I think this is a good place for families to dine at because they have kid-friendly food, it's at a family-friendly place, and with affordable prices (no GST and service charge). Oh and it's also a halal-certified cafe! Accessibility wise it's a little out of the way? Nearest MRT is Toa Payoh, after which you walk to Toa Payoh Town Park and cross the bridge over the PIE expressway. It's about a 10-minute walk from the MRT.
