Food Review: Creamier Ice Cream

My third food review is on Creamier! I'm sure a lot of people have heard of this ice cream parlour situated in a quaint and unassuming area of Toa Payoh. It's been receiving many great reviews for the past year and its popularity is like, whoa red-hot man haha!

I went about two-three weeks ago to satisfy my ice cream + waffles cravings haha. So yep you can guess that they're famous for the waffles with ice cream, and it's very recognisable from photos on Instagram.

As soon as I opened the doors, the aroma of waffles hit me and my stomach grumbled once more HAHA. I was sitting at the corner of the small shop and I snapped this picture above. As you can see, there are very few seats and tables so it's kinda cramped, and what more with the crowds that they always get! I went at about 12.45pm so it's right smack in the middle of the lunch hour (it was a weekday). Many people, especially the working crowd, will come in here to takeaway or share some ice cream and waffles.

Since I'm on the part of the space and crowds, I shall comment on the ambience. Unfortunately due to their small area + constant crowds, there's no ambience there because you're really very close to the next customer and it's noisy when people talk. But I guess the food is more important than the ambience right? Hahaha. I personally don't mind this environment, as long as the food is good. (:

I placed my order at the counter and this is my order/table number. I sat right at the corner and I was facing the exterior of the shop. There's a playground right outside and some tables and chairs. It gets so crowded during peak hours such as Friday and weekend nights that people even sit on those chairs outside to eat their waffles! Hahaha wow.

And yay my waffles arrived! :D

Waffles with single scoop ice cream ($8.50)

Tada! Presenting to you, the famous Creamier's waffles and ice cream! It's two squared Belgian waffles stacked atop each other topped with a scoop of Cookies and Cream (my usual choice hehe), and decorated with chocolate and maple syrup. It's so beautifully presented that many people, be they foodies or not, can't help but take a photo of it before eating. Hahaha, which kinda explains why there are so many of such photos on Instagram.

Ahhhh this is food porn man hahaha. I apologise if the above two photos just made your stomach grumble. Or your mouth salivate. Haha but I wanted to capture a photo of the waffles.

Anyway the waffles are crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside, and it tastes so well with the ice cream! I know ice cream and waffles are like the norm, but this version compliments each other very nicely! However it can get a little bit gelat towards the end, so remember to save some ice cream so that you can eat it together with the waffles throughout. That'll balance out the buttery-ness of the waffle. (:

As for the ice cream, it could do well with more cookies because it tastes more like just a vanilla ice cream... I tried their cookies and cream many months ago and I already felt this way, but me being me, I just love cookies and cream too much, so I chose this flavour again hoping that there were improvements made haha.

Overall I feel this is a good place to satisfy your ice cream waffles craving fix! However do not come in the evenings, be it weekdays or weekends, because you're unlikely to get a seat. And you have to wait longer for your waffles too. Of course, if you're just trying your ice cream and have no problems with eating it takeaway, then go ahead. It's actually nice to hang around at the playground savouring your ice cream too! ^^
